Uniview is a popular CCTV manufacturer that is often sold under other brand names. They manufacture recorders (DVR, NVR) and IP cameras.

All these units can be accessed locally (directly using the DVR/NVR) or via a computer. Sometimes when accessing via a browser you may not see the cameras live.

In this guide, we will show how to watch the UNV (Uniview) cameras live on a web browser. The cameras need to be connected to a DVR or NVR.

The procedure involves installing the plugin (on the browser) and then enabling the live view mode. Read the steps listed below.

To access the Uniview recorder or IP camera via the web browser, you need to use a Windows computer/laptop and Internet Explorer. It won’t work on other browsers (Mozilla, Chrome) and on Mac machines.

Note: if you can’t find the IP address of your recorder, simply go to the Network Settings of the recorder and locate the IP address on the interface. Additionally, you can scan the network via your laptop using the EZtools.

Step 1. Access the recorder’s web interface by typing in the IP address on the address bar of Internet Explorer. The path should look like the following: “http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” (for example http://192.168.1.100).

Note: If the HTTP port has been changed from the default, you will need to add the port number after the IP address by inserting a colon “:” in between the address and port number.

Let’s say you modified the HTTP port to 82, you have to type in the URL bar: http://192.168.100:82

Step 2. Install all requested web plugins that are prompted by Internet Explorer. You can install the plugin by selecting “Run”. Once installed, you may need to refresh or restart the web browser (to be sure, have it restarted).

The message should read: This webpage wants to run the following add-on: ‘UwareWebPlayer’ from ‘Zhejiang Uniview Technologies Co., Ltd.’. After logging in, you’ll be taken to the Live View page. At the bottom left-hand corner of the page, there will be a Play button. Click on the Play button to display all cameras available and connected to the system. So, you need to install the plugin installed first then click the Play button.

To modify the number of cameras showing up on your UNV recorder, you can modify the split-screen which is the way you divide the cameras (let’s say 2×2, 3×3, 4×4, etc.)

When the system is turned on and loaded, the system will default to the live view. You may change the view by moving the mouse to the bottom of the screen and selecting a specific channel split.

If you double click on one camera, it will go into full-screen mode. To exit the single-camera view, double click again and it will go on the default screen view.
